Department of Food Informatics participates on expanding the range of courses on AI at University of Hohenheim  [26.01.22]

The University of Hohenheim is receiving 3.2 million euros from the federal-state intiative "Künstliche Intelligenz in der Hochschulbildung" (Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education) for two project with which it will further expand its existing activities in the field of AI and Data Science. The Department of Food Informatics is involved in the project "AI & Data Science Certificate Hohenheim".

In order to promote the AI competencies of students from all three Hohenheim faculties - Agricultural Sciences, Natural Sciences, and Economics and Social Sciences - an interdisciplinary, study-guiding qualification program is being established that is aimed at advanced Bachelor's and Master's students. After successful participation in the qualification program, students will be awarded the "AI & Data Science Certificate Hohenheim" (AIDAHO), certifying that they have acquired basic as well as subject-specific knowledge in the field of AI, in particular machine learning, data science and scientific computing.

In conjunction with the project "AI for Business I Business for AI - Hochschulübergreifendes, modulares Angebot zum Aufbau von KI-Kompetenzen von Wirtschaftswissenschaftler:innen" (AI for Business I Business for AI - Inter-university, modular offer for the development of AI competencies of economists), the University of Hohenheim was able to raise 3.2 million euros. About 1.4 million euros will be used to fund the AIDAHO project, of which about 320,000 euros will be used by the Department of Food Informatics. The main task of the Department of Food Informatics deals with the conception and initialization of a learning platform for automated assessment of students' programming submissions.
