Wanted: Research project assistant (m/f/d) in university teaching in the field of AI/Data Science  [07.10.21]

For the development of the IT infrastructure of the project and the implementation of courses a position (EG 13 TV-L, scope of work up to 100%) is to be filled at the Department for Food Informatics (Jun.-Prof. Christian Krupitzer) in cooperation with the Computational Science Lab (CSL) - subject to final approval - from December 1, 2021 for the funding period.

As part of the project "AIDAHO - AI & Data Science Hohenheim" (project duration 48 months, until November 30, 2025), funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), you will independently take on activities in the area of IT infrastructure, in particular:

  • Conception and initialization of a learning platform for the automated evaluation of programming tasks of students,
  • the support of related courses for learning programming especially in Python, as well as
  • the conception and creation of new courses in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning.

This platform shall be based on code versioning systems like GitLab in integration with tools for Continuous Integration (CI) and shall allow versioning of source code as well as automated execution of defined tasks once a new version of the source code has been uploaded. Part of the tasks is the configuration of these CI pipelines to automatically check the students' source code and to integrate as high a degree of automation as possible. Furthermore, a didactic concept shall be developed for the generation of individual learning plans for the students, which adaptively adjust to the learning progress - measured by the submissions.

Requirement profile
You have a university degree (Master/Diploma) with above-average success in a discipline close to computer science, computer science didactics or corresponding knowledge of ICT. In addition, you have gained experience in the didactics of computer science during your studies (e.g. by completing relevant lectures as part of a computer science didactics degree or specialization, or by working as a tutor). Knowledge in relevant programming languages (especially Python), code versioning systems and ideally in administration of servers as well as common machine learning frameworks (scikit-learn, Tensorflow or similar) is desired. You have the ability to communicate complex issues clearly in German and English, to think along with others and to act with foresight. Reliable, conscientious and structured work, initiative, commitment, team orientation and interdisciplinarity complete your profile.

Full-time positions are generally divisible, provided that compelling official concerns do not conflict with this. Since the university would like to increase the number of female scientists, applications from women are particularly welcome. Severely disabled persons will be given preference in the case of equal suitability.
